IAMAT is a non-profit organization established in 1960. Our aim is to advise travellers about health risks, the geographical distribution of diseases worldwide, immunization requirements for all countries, and to make competent medical care available to travellers by western-trained doctors who speak English besides their mother tongue.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is monitoring an outbreak of Yellow fever in Argentina and Paraguay. Yellow fever is being recommemded for certain areas of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.

Malaria - Dominican Republic November 27, 2007
Two cases of falciparum malaria have been reported in a German couple who travelled to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) continues to recommend malaria prophylaxis (medication) and the use of personal insect protective measures against mosquito bites for travel to rural areas of the Dominican Republic AND to all areas, including resort areas, within the province of La Altagracia. The Public Health Agency of Canada posts current Travel Health Notices on their web site.

WHO - Avian Influenza November 29, 2006
The World Health Organization has the latest news on the Avian Influenza situation. WHO is co-ordinating the global response to human cases of H5N1 Avian Influenza and monitoring the corresponding threat of an influenza pandemic. Information on their site tracks the evolving situation and provides access to both technical guidelines and information useful for the general public.

IAMAT presents a new version of its mosquito bednet for cribs. It is a portable, free-standing bednet and includes the aluminum frame.
