Travellers visiting rural areas, wooded areas, national parks and jungles must take meticulous anti-mosquito bite measures.
Note: Infection with Plasmodium knowlesi, a malaria parasite of Old World monkeys, has been reported in humans. The main vector for P. knowlesi is Anopheles latens found in forested and jungle areas which feeds outdoors at dusk.
Suppressive medication is not recommended.
